Mission & Values

Our Mission

If churches aren't careful, they can be about a lot of things. Thankfully, Jesus made it very clear for us that He wants us to be about: making disciples (followers) of Him. With that in mind, we've tried to summarize Matthew 28:19-20 with this short, memorable mission statement:

Redeemer Bible Church Exists to Help People Know, Love, and Serve Jesus Christ.

In May of 2015, God started to turn a dying church around with this statement. In everything we do, we want God to use our lives to help people come to know Jesus in salvation (John 17:3; Phil 3:8-9), grow in their love for Him as they follow His teachings (John 14:15, 21, 23) and serve Him as we go and care for the people in our lives and even around the world (Acts 1:8; Rom 12:9-13; 1 Pet 4:10).

This is why Redeemer exists. This is what, by God's grace, we will be all about. If this resonates with you, join us this weekend!

Our Values

We have a high view of god.

We make a huge mistake whenever we bring God down to our level, thinking He is just like us (Ps 50:21). We want to make Him look good in all we do (1 Cor 10:31) and to see Him for who He truly is (John 17:3), in all His majesty, holiness and greatness, as our Creator, Owner, Standard, Master, Father and King.

WE BELIEVE THE BIBLE DETERMINES EVERYTHING.

The 66 books of the Bible are our highest authority in all matters concerning a person's salvation and growth thereafter (2 Pet 1:2-4).  In other words, we do not look inside ourselves or to other sources outside of the Bible for direction from God (2 Pet 1:16-19). This means the Bible alone dictates what we think, do, and teach because God is the ultimate source of the Bible (2 Tim 3:16-4:2; 2 Pet 1:20-21).

WE PROMOTE GOSPEL-CENTRALITY.

The Gospel is not something to move beyond, ever (1 Cor 15:3; Phil 1:21). We agree with John Owen (1616-1683), who wrote, "Holiness is nothing but the implanting, writing, and realizing of the Gospel in our souls" (Works 3:370).

WE ARE COMMITTED TO BIBLICAL PREACHING.

This is the most important activity any church can do because it is in the preaching of God's Word that He is present and addresses us. Therefore, we go through books of the Bible in such a way that each person understands the text, sees how it applies to their lives, and loves Jesus more as a result.

WE DEPEND ON GOD IN PRAYER.

We devote ourselves to prayer (Col 4:2) to affirm that God makes disciples who know, love, and serve Jesus, and gives us love for our neighbors.  All credit belongs to Him when that is accomplished through us.

WE STRIVE TO BE OTHERS-FOCUSED.

To be a Christian is to love (John 13:34-35). Like Jesus, God has sent each of us (John 17:18) to the places we live, work, study, play and worship to be sacrificial workers for the good of all those we interact with.

WE SERVE SACRIFICIALLY.

We will always challenge ourselves to be committed contributors who do our part (Eph 4:16) with our time (Heb 10:25), talents (1 Cor 12:14-26) and treasures (2 Cor 8:1-9) to help others know, love and serve Jesus.

WE CULTIVATE GENUINE COMMUNITY.

Based on biblical metaphors for the church like a body, a family and a building, there is an expectation that each of us is "doing life" with other Christians, all ages, all ethnicities, all socioeconomic backgrounds – everyone knowing and caring for one another (1 Cor 12:25-26; Eph 2:19-22).

WE ADVANCE SHEPHERD LEADERS.

If Jesus Himself did not come to be served, but to serve, so should everyone who aspires to leadership (Mark 10:42-45). Humble, sacrificial, qualified (1 Tim 3:1-13 & Titus 1:5-9), others-focused, disciple-making contributors are the people we want leading our church, working on our staff, serving in our ministries and being examples to our kids.  They put people before programs, and they see themselves as existing to bless others.
